For a long time I was a much published celebrity interviewer and journalist, writing for most major papers and magazines. Subjects included Ethel Merman, Gore Vidal, Andrew Holleran, Bette Davis, , Diana Vreeland, William Styron,A Scott Berg, Mary Martin (a friend), Helen Hayes (also a friend), Carol Burnett, Bobby Short,quite a few others..... Pieces appeared in The Atlantic, Vogue, Travel and Leisure, The Washington Post,The New York Times. The Chicago Tribune, Playbill etc, etc. When I was very young, and worked for HarperCollins , I discovered Armistad Maupin,and other lesser writers.
I'm fairly attractive, and people tell me I'm a snappy dresser,although I'm not the total clothes horse I was when I lived in New York ..I'm also an honors graduate of Johns Hopkins, and a midcareer graduate of the ART program in theater at Harvard Though I enjoy living in Cambridge,I have not yet found anyone like the sophisticated, ironical gay men I knew, liked, and loved in New York in Boston--and, that rather saddens me. I enjoy the straightfowradness, lack of pretense, and fair-mindednes of New Englanders. But that's not what keeps me entertained, or brings out my capacity to entertain other people.
I am, and always have been, a lousy athlete. I 'm fairly well read,though I don't write anymore. One nice detail:I'm 63 but repeatedly hear I look around 50. That's because I have very high coloring and nonwrinkly skin....Favorite living authors:Paul Theroux and Julian Barnes Favorite magazines:The New Yorker, Time Out New York, MarieClaire. Favorite TV shows: Project Runway,NECN cable news.. Favorite movie: Gone with the Wind. Anyway what I''m rally looking for is new gay friends who are MKOP (my kind of people).
